Hey there, art lovers and enthusiasts I am so excited to have you here! Welcome to the vibrant world of my creativity. I’m Millicent, a contemporary artist and artpreneur based in Abuja, Nigeria. Art has been my lifelong companion, thanks to my father’s self-taught talents that adorned our home. Let me take you on a journey through my art style and the myriad hues of inspiration that shape my canvas. Keep reading…
Early Brushes with Art
Picture this with me for a second: a little me, surrounded by the vibrant strokes of my father’s creations. His self-taught artistry ignited my love for drawing and painting from a young age. Those early days laid the foundation for the artist I am today.
Guided by Mr. Eriwona’s Wisdom (my teacher in secondary school)
Fast forward to the Federal Government Girls College in Onitsha, where Mr. Eriwona became my guiding light. He not only taught me the intricacies of fineart but showed me how art can be a powerful voice for expression and societal reflection.
Academic Adventures and the Birth of Colourmimi Studio
My artistic pursuits led me to the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where I immersed myself in Fine and Industrial Art, earning a B.A in Painting. In 2005, I took the plunge into full-time studio practice in Abuja, birthing the ColourMimi Studio—a space where my creativity runs wild.

Diverse Themes and Bold Strokes: Art as a Mirror
Themes like the roles of women, the essence of community, and our environmental responsibilities echo in my work. Each piece carries a boldness that invites you to think, to engage, and to question societal norms.

A Symphony of Mediums: Expressing in Colors and Forms
Diversity defines my artworks. Influenced by personal and professional experiences, my portfolio is a vibrant mix of exhibitions, commissions, and collaborations. Whether it’s the natural beauty or abstract concepts, each piece echoes my character and emotional depth.

Art as Therapy: Painting the Human Experience
Beyond the canvas, I’m on a quest — exploring art therapy. My vision is to use art to ease stress, anxiety, and foster personal growth. It’s about helping people discover new social skills and boost self-esteem through the transformative power of creativity.
Artpreneurial Adventures: Art Beyond Boundaries
I’m not just an artist; I’m an artpreneur. My creations go beyond the canvas, adapting to diverse media from painting and photography to sculpture and digital art. Why? Because I believe art should be part of our daily lives, a driving force for sustainable human development.

A Brush with Business: Balancing Art and Strategy
My commitment to professional growth led me to complete the Owner Manager Programme at the Lagos Business School in 2022. Currently, I’m enrolled in a program at the Lagos Business School focused on Strategy and Innovation. Since 2005, I’ve dedicated myself to full-time studio practice, blending the worlds of artistry and business strategy.
So, there you have it – my journey, my art, and the stories I weave through every stroke. Each piece is more than an artwork; it’s a conversation starter, an exploration, and an invitation to see the world through my eyes. Join me in this ever-expanding canvas of creativity, where every color, every form tells a tale, inviting you to reflect, engage, and be inspired. Cheers to brushing life’s canvas together!
